Vegas Pro 14 - (topic moved, disregard)

This is something I noticed recently.

I've been using Vegas successfully for many years and I have typically used the AVI format with various codecs. Earlier this year I started using the lossless MagicYUV codec (commercial version) with MOV instead and completed one project in Vegas 14 this way.

Switching to the MagicYUV and MOV went well for that project but recently I started a bigger project and, before long, Vegas became sluggish and started crashing like crazy.

To troubleshoot, I experimented with other codecs but kept using the MOV format. The performance was still slow, and stability was still pretty random. For example, if I dragged 30 or so clips from the Project Media panel, it would take many seconds to load and would sometimes crash Vegas in the process.

This made me wonder if the problem was the MOV format, so I created new clips from the source footage (image sequences) using the MagicYUV codec and AVI. Now Vegas loads the clips instantly, and the crashing seems to have gone away.

I was wondering if this sounds right? Is MOV less stable in Vegas than AVI? Should I go back to using AVI? I would probably switch to MP4, but I'm not sure MagicYUV works with MP4. (I need to look into that, TBD.)

I actually don't have a problem staying with AVI but I know it's an aging format that's probably on its way out, and I do want to continue using an efficient lossless codec like MagicYUV.

Just looking for opinions, suggestions. Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

Ah, thanks! I thought this might have been a new forum for Vegas. My bad. :)
