Vegas Movie Studio 16 Pro will not install on Windows 10 desktop

When running VegasMovieStudio16platinum_dlm.exe installation file, it gets stuck trying to download the Vegas software files on my PC desktop computer. It immediately PAUSES, and after clicking on CONTINUE, it again PAUSES immediately, not downloading anything (0% progress). I have tried this several times with the same results. The same happens when trying to install any of the other software modules There is NO error message.

The same installation file works fine on my laptop.

I fully uninstalled the Sony Vegas version 13 (which ran fine). My computer has 16GB ram and has 47GB available on the C: drive (SSD). The Windows10 temp files (system environment variables) are pointing to the D: drive. My internet connection is 1GB fiber.

Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

This issue is resolved. I disabled Windows Defender and VMS installed OK.
