Upgrading from Standard VPX license to VPX 365 subscription - Qs

Craigster wrote on 6/16/2022, 7:50 PM

So, my June 2021 license for VPX is about to expire. So, I'm "upgrading" to the 365 Subscription model, partly due to discounted price, but mainly due to the StoryBlocks subscription (20 DL/s per month).

2 Questions for anyone in the know:

1. Since I already of VPX 14 installed (as VPX 13 update), can I just change my license info and go? OR should I let Magix do the full installation, including all the extra 3rd party stuff? Any reason to keep 2 versions of the program on the same computer?

2. Regarding Storyblocks -- How is it accessed? The ad copy mentions "integrated Magix Content Library". Can anyone using Storyblocks explain a bit more of how this actually works?

Thank you so much!

Craig

@Craigster

Having done precisely this (moved from "standard" VPX to "365") I can confirm you do not need to make any changes to your existing installation except to enter the new serial key which you will be given and then activate this new version. I'm not sure abut the third-party stuff  but the email with your new key should include the download links and appropriate keys for these products, which you would then install as normal.

As far as I am aware you cannot keep both the "standard" and "365" versions on the same computer. I'm pretty certain the 365 will overwrite any earlier version of the same product.

Access to Storyblocks is via a "new" item you will find on the file menu of your 365 VPX; File>MAGIX Content.

okay, not so "perfect" after all.

So, I am unable to figure out how or where to enter the new serial number or reactivate it.

(clicking the About window shows the current/prior SN, but doesn't allow an overwrite).

So, I tried to go ahead and reinstall the X365 version via 365.dlm installer to a new folder. However, the installer sees the current VPX14 and says it cannot install over the current or more recent version.

So, wondering Jeff -- How exactly did you get the program to prompt you for a new Serial Number and Activation?

Alright, so I found it:

I needed to "Deactivate Program" via the Help Menu.

Thanks again for clarifying re: File>Magix Content for the Storyblocks video content.

(Too bad it opens a new window that sits atop VPX. Not immediately loving that workflow.)

@Craigster

My apologies for failing to say exactly how to enter the new registration key but great news it is now working for you!

Happy video editing!
