I ahve paid for photostory 2021 but the programme is nagging me to extend the update surely the purchase has already a years service

You have 12 months of free updates from the date you bought the the app so yes, you can safely ignore that message.
Did you have a previous version of the app installed? It may be that your Magix Account, My Products, will show that as having its update service about to expire. If so, it might be worth deactivating that version in your account since that should stop the Update reminders, I think.
