Update Service: Xara Designer Pro X pop up

Robert-Willers wrote on 4/24/2022, 9:16 AM

Having just upgraded to Web Designer version 19, I find that upon closing I am being fed a popup ad from the Update Service: Xara Designer Pro X.
There is no "do not show again" option.
Is there any way I have the ability to disable?

@Robert-Willers

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Did you install the update to the Update Service?

The popup should disappear when the update has been installed, however with some programs it did re-appear every time you start the program.

If the popup keeps re-appearing after installing, I would suggest you raise a Support ticket using the Support link at the top of every forum page. See this Support article on how to raise a Support ticket.

@Robert-Willers

Hi

For the ads - uninstall Magix Cloud Import (Xara Cloud Import ?) also known as Update Notifier, Magix Connect, Connect and Network Sync.

Thanks but none of the mentioned files are present on my system.

To block the popup on the startup of Xara, just create a firewall rule that blocks every outgoing connection initiated by the Xara Designer application.

In my case: %ProgramFiles%\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\19\DesignerPro.exe

The popup will disapear.

@M-Wieland

Hi

Please do not resurrect old topics, this one is 2 years old.

There is a downside with blocking using Firewall rules, access to the Online Catalogs and 3rd party online widgets will not be avaialble where required.

This topic will be closed
