Update has corrupted program

PeterD58 wrote on 9/17/2020, 8:35 AM

Had Photostory Deluxe couple of years. Paid for update subscription but struggled getting link to latest online update (2021). Magic support emailed me the link and after using the Photostory main program looks to have disappeared, ie has been deleted. I still have the travel maps but other than that I can only see the free add ons which came with the update, music maker etc. Raised a ticket with Magix support but wondered if anyone also has had a similar issue.

I got there in the end, did a search and found the update exe. in some file, clicked on it again and got everything back. But now have a different issue. The update service seems to be working now, a message pops up saying an update is available, that I have version 20.0.1.52 and version is 20.0.1.56 available. I click on update, it downloads, then with a blue circle of dots still going around says a restart is required, I waited a while but the blue circle of dots keeps going round and there is nothing else on the message page, so I restart the computer but then when I load the program again I'm back to square one, ie with a message saying an update is available..... I've left it for now, but would appreciate if anyone could let me know what I am doing wrong? Thank you

@PeterD58

The latest version is 20.0.1.56 - I just checked my own installation - but I can offer no suggestion/reason why the update to that version failed for you!

However, before retrying the update it might be worth checking that Windows itself is fully up to date and not waiting for either an update installation or a restart. Then try the PS update again.

I have been attempting for 2 months to update Photostory Deluxe 2021 from ver 20.0.1.52 to 20.0.1.56. Rarely uploads more than 2mb of the 56mb download, even after a few hours. Once achieved 54mb in 20 minutes, and then stopped! After 3 hours gave up and aborted the download. My desktop system is Win 10 (completely updated v 2004), 16gb RAM, 3.6GHz 6 core CPU, internet speed range 30-45 Mbps. With other application updates, 76mb would be completed in a few seconds. Magix obviously has a system/ server problem. I've used Photostory for many years, perhaps it is time to look at other products.
