Update from v 18 to v 19 unable to complete

Mary-Bryan wrote on 3/18/2022, 10:35 AM

Every time I start Xara, since the new update was released, it notifies me there is a new update, I download, and then click to install. It then attempts to install, but shortly thereafter says, "There is already the same or newer version of Xara Designer Pro X Installed. The installation cannot continue."

Installed version is 18.5.0.63630 Latest version is 19.0.0.63929

Windows 10

I have the same problem. Magix has no help desk or techs support to help. So, basically there is no help.

@Mary-Bryan

Hi,

Check carefully that you don't already have version 19 installed as the message says. The previous version is not uninstalled so you may have icons on your desktop for both versions. If you have the Xara icon in your bottom tray, it will be for the previous version, not v19. Check under Windows Start menu for installed programs.

Magix has no help desk or techs support to help. So, basically there is no help.

False. You raise a ticket with Magix to get help. Click on Support and follow it through to the end; it takes me 15 seconds, only because I type in a reasonable subject in the Search term that becomes the subject of the ticket. I have described the process more than once in this forum. They don't work weekends.

Also, this has been raised in several threads and you should take a look. Help is here, so why do you say that there is no help?

I raised a ticket about a problem with Xara a couple of weeks ago and it was resolved after a bit of back and forth. The process works. I have raised many tickets over the years with Magix, and they have always replied and always tried to resolve my problem...or their bugs.

John CB. No I do not have Xara 19 since the update for Xara 19 just repeats and does nothing. If there is a way to raise a ticket with Magix please let me know because I have search hours of something like that. Thanks

@browj2 has already told you how to do this - click the Support link at the top of every forum page and follow through the dialogs as John CB described in other posts, or see this support article.

@Jim-Webb

Did you check like I suggested? There are some on the TalkGraphics forum who thought that the installation didn't work the first time and kept trying. It was already installled.

Did you try downloading the installer from Magix.com - just select the trial version, download and install it. The downloader that you have may be corrupt.

For Support, click on the Support button, select Xara and follow the instructions, always scrolling down the page and selecting Ask Support, Find a solution. Just follow it through (select the category and program), including Search for other options. When you get to it asking for a search term, put in the title that you want for your ticket. Search. Scroll down to the bottom and look at the options - Send a support request. The problem always seems to be that people don't scroll down and look at the choices. Like I said, it takes 15 seconds to get to the ticket page.

Thanks I will try that. Just to be clear, I have Xara 18. I kept getting this annoying pop up about updating my service. I decide to pay the $29. to get rid of them. I them went into Xara 18 and clicked on update. Nothing happened. Now when I open Xara 18 I get two pot up Box. One says to click here to update and nothing happens. Later a secon box pots up and says click here to install the update and nothing happens.

Thanks I found the ticket. Best kept secret on the internet.
