Unable to uninstall Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus

Judihui wrote on 8/31/2022, 6:34 PM

I tried several ways to uninstall Edit Pro 17 Plus from an ASUS stereoscopic 3D laptop running Windows 7. The program appears on the Control Panel (Programs and Features), but cannot be deleted. Error message: "Local package not found for ProdactCode: {..........}. The program can be started from the icon on the desktop, however with a warning of a possible software corruption. I tried to reinstall it from the installation CD, but I get an error message indicating that another (unnamed) program has to be uninstalled first. None of the methods I found on the Internet to force uninstall worked.

@Judihui

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . None of the methods I found on the Internet to force uninstall worked. . . .

Did you try the following steps in this order?

  1. Run this Microsoft tool for fixing programs that will not uninstall.

  2. Use Revo Uninstaller free to uninstall the program and scan for left over files, folders and registry fragments.

Do note:

  • It is quite possible, that the Windows installation is in a state where a complete re-install of Windows and software will be required.

  • Movie Edit Pro 17 will not run correctly if you upgrade the laptop to Windows 10.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I tried Revo and Revo Pro, and the Microsoft tool you suggested. No success. I have an image of the Win 7 installation from 2015. I will restore it, this hopefully allows me to uninstall. Unfortunately, I will have to reinstall all software since 2015.
