Trying to record produces an error message

Trying to record produces the following error message: The wave shape device 'stereo mix(Realtek High Defini' cannot be opened for recording! Reason: Undefined external error.

I am using Windows 10 with 8GB of RAM and this has happened since Windows was reinstalled. The software is MAGIX Audio & Music Lab Premium 22.2.053 (DP3) UG Code 8840 KA3.

The software is able to see the Realtek High Definition input in the audio input settings window as one of the inputs, and this one is selected.

It is curious that the microphone permissions control all this. I was trying to use the stereo mix, and it seems it did not work because the microphone permission was off.
