I have Photostory Deluxe 2019 and recently had the opportunity to update to the 2020 version. Each time I tried it failed so I contacted Magix who gave me very detailed instructions on uninstalling the 2019 version along with some specific Magix files and folders, then download and install the the latest version. Cut a long short it appeared to be downloading the 2020 version but I ended up with the same 2019 version as before. Not only that most of my .mph project files dissappeared. I returned the folders I had been told to delete but still couldnt see the missing project files. In the end I tried to get windows to restore to an ealier day but after 2.5 hours the restore operation failed, one good thing though was most of my missing .mph files reappeared. An additional problem is now when I save a project Magix defaults and tries to save it in a Photostory 2020 folder. Not too happy at the minute as I'm working on several projects for a friend and last night I thought I would have to start all of them from scratch, thankfully not but what will happen next time I try to update to the 2020 version I dare not think. I'm still waiting for Magix to come back with a solution.
What I didnt say was in less than 24 hours the update has changed form version 190234 to the one shown today which is 190236. I tried this update today thinking the later version was maybe a fix and it failed to install so I'm beginning to wonder if the 2020 version and update may be incomatable with some PC's. Hope this helps. As I say I'm waiting for response from Magix.

In order to have any chance at all of answering this we really do need to know a great deal more about your computer! Please read this post and give us ALL the information requested there.
Thanks for the interest in my problem, my Magix Photostory Deluxe is version 190124 (UDP3) Code UG8664KA1. My PC is an Acre Aspire TC 280 running W10 Home 64bit, version 1909 with the windows most recent updates installed. The Harddrive is partitioned with the OpSystem, apps, software and op system docs on drive C, all other personal docs, photos etc on D. This has worked perfectly for 2 years with no issues like this before with any other software or software updates. Other PC info; CPU AMD A10-7800 63 °C Kaveri 28nm Technology,
Windows 10 1909 was an automatic option offered by Windows Update 13-11-19 and appeared to install without any issues and other software has installed without a hitch. Yes previous version was 1903
I have Bitdefender Total Security which I installed 15-11-19 doesnt seem to have affected any other software updates or installation. I have tried turning it off during updates of Magix and reinstallation.
Windows Defender appears to be turned off completely and Defender Periodic Scanning is turned off
I havent tried installing updating in Administrator mode and when I get time I will try this and let you know.
Thank you very much, I've just launched Photostory Deluxe in Administrator mode with Bitdefender turned off. First I went straight to Help and Update Online but the download never started so I relaunched Photostory waited for the update window to come up on its own, the downlod and install went without a problem. I'm now running version 19.02.36 which I presume is the 2020 version. I havent tested/used the program but it seems to be running fine and more importantly I still have all my previous projects available.
Hola, hace 8 meses que compré FHOTOSTORY DELUXE y todavía no he conseguido instalarlo. He enviado varias veces el error a Magix y no me solucionan nada. Para instalar desconecto el antivirus. ha venido mi informático varias veces y tampoco ha podido solucionar el problema.
