Travel maps question

I hope that I am in the right place :) I am using the wizard under Video Pro X 14

Hi all, loving Travel Maps! I just have a couple of questions and this is my first time using this. I've created the animation so you can see what I'm talking about. You will see that the icon I created for the 'traveling' icon, is on top of the location icon when it starts and ends. Can I create a delay so that you see the location icon, then the travelling icon and finally, just the location icon. I hope this makes sense, but you should see what I mean on the following recording. Also, how can I increase the size of the map slightly?

I presume that you used the ESRI Map Geographic.

Zoom in or out as you wish to change the size of the map. However, you cannot change the size over time, at least not yet. I presume that you want to zoom in. Just use your mouse wheel.

Can I create a delay so that you see the location icon, then the travelling icon

Yes. Under Path & Avatar, first start with the Complete route. Here you can change the Location size, then Duration of Stop. Change the duration of stop to 2 seconds. This should give you a 2 second delay before the line with the icon starts moving, and a 2 second delay at the end. Check that it works with the start end end locations, adjust as necessary. You can change these individually by selecting the location on the Location list and changing it for the location. Note that you can toggle the details on and off by clicking on the pencil at the left side of a location.

and finally, just the location icon.

First, finish the animation part to a video. Don't for get to change the Resolution first to 4K, as the default is 1850x1041. Still in Travel maps, turn off the line under Path & Avatar, Complete route, by making Transparency 100%. If you want the first location off, then select it on the Location list, and Hide location. Finish - Save View, not video export. Save your TM project in case you want to reopen it. Exit.

Alternatively, export to mp4 without the route line, edit in VPX.

On the timeline in VPX, you now have your video. You will have to import the static image with no route line after the video. You can now use the tools in VPX for size, position, speed, etc. I usually make my routes with a longer duration than necessary so that I can use just parts of the video for travel legs and often I have to slow down the video even more.

Play with the sizes of things to see what happens. Reducing the size of an icon moves the text close to the location.

Here is my version with a zoom in half way across the Atlantic, 100 to 150%, right edge of video at right edge of window at the end. I gave static image the same 150%, right edge position.

I suggest a quick zoom in transition at the end - zoom in the static image centred on Switzerland to, say, 3000, and zoom out the venue or something in the transition.

Yes, in VPX.

Did you notice that I put an arc on the flight path across the Atlantic. Looks more pleasing I think.

Hi,

I just put another point on the line and moved it up to make a nice curve, then turned off the location. You can always add points between others by hovering over the line, you'll see a point, and then clicking where you want the point/location.
