Thumbnail pictures

Photo Manager Deluxe 13.1.1.12. In the thumbnail view of pictures in a folder, what do the icons between a picture & its file name represent? Where are they described. In particular some pictures have, but many don't have a brown square box with a white figure (looks like a cam) with a circle in it. These are old photos, never optimized, that I'm just now trying to sort through and move to relevant folders.

You mean like this one?

This brown and white one indicates that there is GPX data with the photo. Right-click on the photo, select Show GPS location, and it will open Google Maps and show you where the photo was taken.

If you use categories, you can use icons or small thumbnail images and link photos with categories. If a photo is linked, you will see the corresponding icon(s) below the image. If you give a photo a rating with stars, a star icon will show up.

I assume this means the image has been edited (destructively or non destructively?)

Image is Read only

Browj2: Thanks, that's it. These pictures were taken on a trip to Ponca in NW Arkansas near the Buffalo river 10/18. Samples of several properties indicate all were taken with a Nikon D5600 (as opposed to some with an IPhone). The first 69 don't have the GPS icon, next 17 have it, then the remainder don't. The 17 were taken at two different locations at different times. I don't recall changing any settings to save the GPS information, especially since the latter 17 and the first of the remainder were in the same area. I guess I'm going to have to research my camera to see how that happened.

I had previously experimented with categories. I looked through all of the icons for "create new categories" and didn't find this paricular icon. I also went through the manual. I now see a wee bit of information on GPS but no picture or description of the icon. Are there others?

Hi Bob,

I haven't noticed any icons.

For the photos with GPS info, you can select one or more, preferably in different places, right-click and open Travel Route Animation. The points will be connected by lines. You can modify this as you wish and export to static image or route animation.

PhotoManager (PM) adds the icons if it detects:

GPS data, as @browj2 has said
If you have edited the image within PM it keeps a record of the edits and displays them again if you go back to edit it again- this allows for reversion to an earlier version
If the folder they are in and/or the images are set to Read only
