The serial number sent to me "is invalid" for Xara Designer Pro X 19.

The serial number sent to me "is invalid" for Xara Designer Pro X 19 per a error message (error code: -14). I copied and pasted it (less the initial letter "P") so there would be no typing error. I checked it 5 times and so there error is on the Magix side, not mine. :Lets get this going as it is holding up a major project costing me money right now. I am using a Dell laptop as I have been for all my Xara Magix softwares without any problems. I am using Windows 10.

Why can't I get to a live person to help me settle the Magix problem? I don't think this Forum is going to be able to help me when I need someone at Magix to fix this problem, but maybe I'm wrong but I wouldn't bet on it.

You must copy and paste the entire serial number including the 'P'

Hi John - well, nice try but you are wrong. Firstly, they print a leading "P" just outside the front of the box indicating they know there is a "P" there so don't bother, and secondly the box only holds the amount of the serial number less the "P" - it won't fit with the "P" and if you try it with the "P" the "P" gets dropped anyway. I tried it. I have been doing this many years so I know what I'm doing. When the error message says the serial number is "invalid" - that is Magix's problem, not mine. But when I try to use it THEN it becomes mine.

You see, this problem could have been solved in 5 minutes if this company would take phone calls - they could have issued me another serial# and I would be a happy camper. But when a company makes one jump through hoops by going through a forum - which is ridiculous, sorry to you folks out there don't mean to be anything but blunt, to me it indicates they have problems more than issuing me an erroneous serial number.

Let me tell you where I'm coming from. I have been involved with computers starting way back in 1965 when I was in Air Force Intelligence, stationed at Norad (inside the Cheyenne Mt Complex) near Colorado Springs, Colo. At that time IBM was supplying us with IBM 360 computers, tape storage, etc. No lap tops or desktops or cell phones invented yet. I was a query tech at that time and learned how to get certain info off those big reel tape drives. Some times you would have to ask a first question, get an answer, then ask a second question from the first answer information, etc. until you get the correct answer finally after making several runs. Well, my IQ is 145 and I used my brain because it was logical to me that the main problem is they did not have what I termed a "super-digit" that would cut down on most of the repeats runs. I spoke with one or two of the IBM programmers and discussed the fact that if they had a special characters that would mean ANYTHING in the spot where it was placed, much work and time could be saved. For example, instead of looking for "Colorado" state by spelling the whole name, you could enter "Co*" and the computer could figure this out. Just a simple way of looking at it.

The IBM people took my suggestion and to this day, the asterisk is that "super-digit". Any of you guys who are coding know what I'm talking about. I never even got a thank you from IBM or anyone else for that extremely useful suggestion. I just thought I'd honk my own horn here so anyone reading this would know I am not a dumb ass or even that I like to complain, but Magix set up this whole way of doing things so they would not have to answer the phone. Hell, I could have designed a system 10 times better that this. I'll probably never get a satisfactory answer when the real answer is : Hey Mike, here is a new serial number. Done in 5 minutes - not to wait 2-3 weeks for something. It just ticks me off..

Hello, welcome

Error code -14 when activating a P3 serial number is caused when you enter the serial number into the wrong program.

For example, if your serial number is for Web Designer and you enter it in Web Designer Premium when activating.

Please check your account at here under the section "My Products" to see what product is under your account and download the appropriate product.

If you are still having issues contact infoservice@magix.net

Hi,

Did you purchase Xara DPX19 or something else?

New?

Update/upgrade?

If it's an upgrade, then I can't understand why Magix would send you a serial number. They simply extend your current update service for Xara 365 by 1 year, and you're good to go.

Did you check in your account to see if this is the case?

Where did you download the installation program from?

In the email that you received from Magix, is there more than one product and thus more than one serial number? Scroll down to the bottom and check everything carefully.

Did you try to activate using a different email address from the one that you are registered with?

Telephone support - Magix offers it for Sequoia. Would you prefer to pay a couple of thousand dollars per year for telephone support?
