"What am I doing wrong?"

What in the four sentences you posted gives us any idea what could be happening or what you're doing wrong?

You've told us nothing that gives us the slightest clue as to what you're doing and what's actually happening.

Let's see.......you bought ACP to clean up audio files....and then you downloaded a audio file and it sounded terrrible, which is why you bought ACP.....but wait, theres more.  You know the file is good .....then why did you download it ?

Monitaor your download and see if it does sound as you expect it to.  You just might be surprised

Hi,

You're off to a bad start - Mac? You probably won't find many users here of ACL and Mac. I presume that you downloaded the Mac version and not the Windows version, correct?

What type of file are you trying to edit/clean? When you load the file into ACL and play it without applying any effects, does it sound like when you play it on a regular audio player? It should. What sounds different?

Hi

In addition it is quite possible that you have overdone whtever cleaning effects you have applied and 'destroyed' the audio quality.

Cleaning effects should be applied subtly in order that the problem is just minimised to become less of a nuisance.

If over done then you get the same result as trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer - smashed to bits.
