Suddenly all my scenes have started jerking, both in the Prog. & Source windows in VP X7. When I play a scene the playback marker stays where it is, anyone any ideas?

I use VP X7 and have had no problems since upgrading to Windows 10.

Everything has been working perfectly until the other day and I booted up and all my clips were jerky when played from the time line or in the prog. or source windows, also the playback marker remains where it is until I stop playback when it then jumps to the spot where I have stopped.

Anyone any ideas? I have uninstalled and re-installed without curing the problem.

Hi

. . . . I have uninstalled and re-installed without curing the problem . . . .

This rarely solves problems unless you remove all the parts of the program which are left behind before re-installing.

. . . . I booted up and all my clips were jerky when played from the time line or in the prog. or source windows, also the playback marker remains where it is until I stop playback when it then jumps to the spot where I have stopped. . . . .

Try resetting the program to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset . . . . .   note this will lose any customisation you have made eg folder locations etc.

Has any new software benn installed?

Also check that a Windows update is not pending installation - I have found that Windows 10 does not always give you an 'update pending' message and a pending  installation only becomes obvious when something stops working or goes slow.

Hi

Has Windows 10 installed any updates on the date this started happening? I think there was a big one (1GB) a couple of days ago.

Hi there,

As for a Windows update I don't think I have had one.

I did set everything back to default, but same result.

     No new software added.

VP X7 is the only prog that this happens in, if I play back a clip using VLC Media Player or any other player the clips play normally.

Hi

AFAIK 10 installs some updates automatically ie. you get no choice. Have a look in the PC Settings in "Update and Recovery" and look at the "Update History".

Hi,

I appear to have cured the problem.

What I did was to go to an old "Restore point" and try to restore, now this is peculiar as when the PC had finished I got a requester stating that it had been unsuccessful because some running programme would not allow it but to stop any virus checking programmes and try again, I did, with the same result, but when I loaded VP X7 everything seems to be normal.

     I give up with computers.

    Thanks for all the help.
