Steps to create a popup window from a nav button

I'm trying to have a popup window that opens a separate web page with text (or anything else) on it from a navigation button. The popup window is the kind that appears over top of the current page with that little "X" in the upper right corner to close it. this window is not part of the "main navigation bar". I can't find any instructional steps that make sense in the manual or help screens. The help stuff talks about layers but never explain how to do it on a step by stop basis. I'm using MAGIX (Xara) web designer premium on Win 10 Pro. Can anyone help me out on this with step by step instructions. I'm a senior trying to make a web site. I'm not finding the software's help all that helpful. This was supposed to be easy to use and understand. HELP !!
