Keep in mind that this is *not* an HDV camera. HDV is high-definition MPEG-2 material recorded onto a miniDV tape. Due to the sequential nature of the data storage it requires the capturing/recording process in order to get the footage into the computer for editing. However, this does not apply to the camera you're using, which stores video files on an internal hard drive or memory card. They just need to be copied across to your computer and imported into Movie Edit Pro. From what I gather, the camera can record both AVCHD and MPEG-2 footage. So, make sure you got the required codecs activated. For proper AVCHD support, you'd need to have the "Plus" version of Movie Edit Pro.
