I was playing back a recording using Magix Music Maker 17 when the sound begin to break up. So I went into a fix the problem program - when it was finished the Music Maker 17 program was gone

By "Program was gone" does this mean completely uninstalled? Exactly what you were doing? unless you explain it is difficult to answer. So before you provide more details why not check once more in the Program Files check if you got Magix folder then go to Music Maker folder and try to run from their or check All Programs and try to run if you can.

In the meantime do not delete History/Cookies or do not clear Recycle Bin.
