Software Activation - "An online connection could not be established"

andyn wrote on 1/3/2021, 2:40 PM

I have been trying to activate my software for ages now and have read and applied suggested solutions like Background Intelligence Transfer, Internet explorer settings including Firewall settings and none of them have worked. More so frustrating is that one can not even open a ticket with Magix support and you are kept going back and forth in their "Find a solution"

I have Xara Designer Pro 11 running on Windows 7.

I would appreciate if anyone can help because i can't reach support which is really bad.

Thanks in advance

Hi

. . . .  i can't reach support which is really bad . . . .

Use this guide to navigate the Support system to contact Support.

However as the program is 5 years old and Windows 7 is now obsolete, it is likely to be out of the free support period.

Thank you for the feedback but part of the problem is that, i can not even open a ticket wthin my account. I have followed all the instructions above and it keeps sending me back to the same list. However, i saw that i can generate an activation key on my account but, for whatever reason my ComputerID is not accepted. Any idea why would help.

Thanks in advance

Hi

. . . . whatever reason my ComputerID is not accepted . . . .

The ComputerID is a generated id that the program creates not the Windows computer id.

Some Magix software has the capability of being activated offline using another computer - in the activation screen if you see a line of text such as Activate offline or some thing similar, click this and follow through the dialogs do make notes of the activation codes given to you these will be needed for activating the program manually.

Thank you once again.... after poking around with this and that, finally i could activate the software online.

I suspect the problem was with IE which after updating to IE 11, it worked fine. Of note here is that, during this period i was also doing a Win10 update in the background which i later cancelled and could also have had an influence on this.

Again, thank you for reaching out and hopefully i don't have to do this anytime soon again.

Bless...
