slidehhow for DVD resolution issues

I purchased a copy of Photo Story on DVD MX Deluxe some time ago for a project I was doing .  I planned to make a slideshow on DVD for TV viewing of some old High School Yearbooks that I had scanned.  However, the resolution on the DVD was so bad that the text was unreadable.  The images were fine on the computer.  I was informed that the program reduces the resolution for the DVD slideshow and that caused the problem.  Is there any improvement in the newer versions that would solve this issue?  As this is the only project I have requiring this type of software, there would be no advantage to upgrade is the issue is not solved.

Hi

. . . . I was informed that the program reduces the resolution for the DVD slideshow and that caused the problem. . . . .

That depends on the resolution the images were scanned at.  If the images were scanned at 300 dpi and the final image size was greater than DVD resolution then they should be fine.

However when they are resized to DVD resolution ie 720 * 576 (PAL) or 720 *480 (NTSC) then any fine text will virtually disappear.

If the images were scanned at low resolution so the image ended up at, for example 360 * 240 px, then upscaled to DVD resolution then you will get severe blockiness.

Hi

. . . . The yearbooks were scanned at 300 dpi, . . . .

What is the resolution of the final images ?

Are they whole page scans with the images then seperated out by cropping.

Can you post an image which is showing this issue in Photostory, to Dropbox or similar, for us to have a look at  and test.

I do not have Photostory but can test in Movie Edit Pro.
