I would like the opening and possibly the closing slide of to have only text and maybe some graphics. Where do I find this and how do I get it into my storyboard?

Assuming you have downloaded and installed all the extras, then there are various Title and captions available under the Title tab.
If you cannot find the graphics you want, you can create your own graphic images in an image editing program saving them as jpg, or search the Internet for free images available under the Creative Commons licence - there are many sites that offer these - placing the images on a lower track number than the Title object for the text.
