Size of photos on TV when burned to DVD

My slideshow in Photostory on CD & DVD 10 previews properly, but when I burn a DVD the pictures are too large for my TV. I shrunk them in the slideshow but this has no effect on the TV images. How do I make them show properly on the TV?

What type of disc are you burning to? DVD, Blu-Ray?

Do you have a flat panel TV? If yes, what resolution/ratio is it running?

Burning a standard DVD (Not Blu-ray). I have a Sony HD with aspect ratios available of either 16:9 or 4:3 - I have it set on 16:9 but I've tried both, to no avail. I've also changed the aspect ratios in the slide show and also zoomed them down to 90%, neither of which makes them any smaller on the TV.
