The use of markers in PhotoStory is very limited. You can set the end marker of a range by right-clicking on the time grid. The left marker is wherever you position the playback marker so long as it's to the left of the end marker. If you move the playback marker to the right of the end marker, then the end marker disappears. So long as the start marker is to the left of the end marker, you can drag the end marker left and right with the mouse.
You also have Snap markers.
Movie Edit Pro Plus/Premium have many more markers and allow you to set the in and out points of a range independent of the position of the playback marker. There are also project markers and chapter markers. These are not available in PhotoStory.
Still having trouble with timing my slides. I had them all timed perfectly and added cross fades to all and it completely changed the timing. cannot drag and drop as the manual says. Once I get the crossfade in the proper place then make a slight additional adjustment the crossfade reverts to a different transition.I am getting increasingly frustrated with this program. Please help
. . . . I had them all timed perfectly and added cross fades to all and it completely changed the timing . . . .
The timing will change - a crossfade overlaps the images and fades one out and the other in - the image shows what it would look like when separated on to 2 tracks - the overlap is the length of the crossfade.
For a 1 sec crossfade at each end of an image you lose 2 seconds of the display time - you need to take this into account when setting the length of the image.

Wish I had known that before I went in and adjusted each one again. Is there a website where all of the tutorials are accessible? If so would like to access it, as I have a problem with simply wading into a new program, without some guidance
Thanks to all who responded who suffered through my problems and solved them!
Is this the link that you followed? Did I put the wrong link with the YT video?
I hope that you mean Movie Edit Pro and not Movie Maker which is a Microsoft program.
Magix Movie Edit Pro (MEP) is actually the same as PhotoStory but has a different look and more editing features, mainly for video editing, as I point out in my latest tutorial. But that is all. Look at the Movie Edit Pro tutorials as they show pretty much the same stuff, but may use some tools that you don't have access to.
