Scanning photos will cause the process to freeze

I have PhotoManager Deluxe version 13.1.1.12. Installed on Dell Inspiron 14 5000 2 in 1 laptop I purchased in December 2019. I have Windows 10. I am using the Epson ET-3760 all in one printer, that I also just purchased this winter. I am scanning many photos with PhotoManager and the Epson printer. Most of the time, the scanning process is excellent. Sometimes, the scanning process "freezes". The scanning does not end, but rather it continues on and on and on. The cancel option on both PhotoManager and the Epson printer do not engage. I also cannot even turn my printer off. I have to pull the plug for power from my printer to make the process end. Could anyone review this information, and offer help, so this problem will stop happening? Thanks
