Is there anyway to change the movie template "scaling vectors" to remove the shaded part of the placeholder for the picture? The template would be much better without half of the picutes being "foggy"!

I presume that "Scaling vectors" is in 2015 as I only have 2013 Deluxe. As far as I know, you can't change the source code for the templates. You can make your own, more or less, and you can modify the results on the timeline.
For the foggy pictures, go to timeline mode, navigate to picture with the playback marker, select the picture/object, and then open the effects tab. Open Distortion. Look at the bottom of this window and you will probably see a key-framing timeline. at the left you will see the effect that has been placed on it. Uncheck the box to the left of it. You can also do a right click with the mouse on the object and select "Effects settings" then "Reset." Any effects on that object/photo will be removed., except for transitions.
