Samplitude Music Studio 2014 - £29 to activate Vita Drum Engine?

Kraznet wrote on 7/31/2014, 6:32 AM

I haven't used Samplitude Music Studio 2014 for a while but the last time I opened the Vita drum engine it opened without problems. But now when  I open it I get a message saying I need to activate it before I can use it. When I click on the link it takes me to a page asking me to pay £29. Did something change?

Hi

As a guess I would say you bought the Basic version which does not include all the licences for some of the instrument packages and you have to pay extra for them.

I don't think it's a license problem. I've Samplitude Music Studio 2014  including all the add-ons. the Drum Engine is not a problem. By chance I'm currently analyzing all the instruments of the YT-Familiy (*ytil, *.vita which are the same just another extension) I consolidated everything in an excel. You can download it here and set filter to Samplitude Music Studio

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tmj00mvhaw9xx4y/AACE26-wXAIqFKHH6y6xin3Da

then  pickup the free  Filewatcher Utilities binaries from here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/fwutilities/

Start FileWatcherSimple.exe and configure it to point to path contaning the Mxsynth directory with the layer subdir, typically here if you didn't change the defaults C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\MAGIX Services\MxSynth .

Then take care to select in on the General tab [x] subdirs and [x] Last access as shown below. Run the watcher and select the Log tab. Start samplitude, load your drums kit and you check which path\file  Samplitude is accessing. If it's on the Excel in Samplitude listed it's part of the distribution and can't be a license issue.

otherwise it might be eventually be something wrong with the registration of the VSTi's. Could be that you have installed a Vst which confused the parser and removed an existing entry.  Deleting the Vstplugins..ini could force a rebuild of the ini.

On Johnebaker's hint I've checked out again my installation and in fact there are "...more instruments.." to download apart of the free add-ons. Wasnt' aware of that. I've downloaded this additional entire set to complete my list of Independence technology based instruments, see  snapshot below. They can be filtered out on the list in column D with [e]xtra add-ons

It seems there is there is a 'Drum Engine' set within these addtional instruments which have to be purchased for use. Kraznet, might be you downloaded this set once without using it and used before the other included drum kits. However, based on the analysis and the complete list it should be clearly identifiable.
