"Render As" dialog not loading (0x80131501)

The "Render As" dialog is not showing.

Instead, I'm getting this error:

An error occurred while creating the media file .
Error 0x80131501 (message missing)

There are some other folks who've gotten this issue, but their threads never had a final response.

I'm on Windows 10 64-bit, and I didn't have Vegas installed prior to trying. I installed Vegas 18 for the first time on this system, I registered. I dragged in a video clip, went to "Render As", and it threw up that error.

My hardware:

  • AMD Ryzen 5950X
  • 64GB RAM
  • nVIDIA RTX 3090
  • nVIDIA GTX 970

The batch-scripting workaround won't work for me as my videos are 21:9. I don't have a way to render it properly with Vegas unless I add a new Render mode using the Render As dialog.

I tried installing the latest 527 as well as the older 434 version. What could be causing this issue?

@Saturn2888

Hi

Hi and welcome to the forum - albeit the wrong one as you have mentioned Vegas and Video Pro X, the forum you have posted in, does not have this menu item for exporting video.

Vegas products have their own forum see the Important Posts here.

There should also be a link to the correct forum under Help in the program.

I would suggest you post your question there
