Recording stops automatically

Daripa1963 wrote on 1/6/2013, 7:53 AM

Product is actually Magix Video Recorder on Mac (operating on iOS Mountain Lion). For some reason the recording of any video stops automatically after reaching a file size of 2.15GB, regardless of what recording duration I put in and even if the video I'm recording hasn't finished.

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi

We need more information -

What are you recording to - the MAC hard drive, an external hard drive or other device?

What format are you recording in?

What is the MAC model and processor spec?

John

Hi

Thanks for replying. I'm recording to an external hard drive. It has happened when recording in both YUV422 codec and H.264. Mac is mid-2010, processor 3.2GHz Intel Core i3 with 8GB RAM 1333MHz DDR3

External hard drive is 500GB, made by Intenso

Hi

What is the file system format on the ext hard drive?

I suspect that it may be FAT16/32 or the MAC HFS equivalent in which case your are hitting the maximum single file size allowed.

Thanks, John

That answers that side of the question. However, when I previously recorded to the Mac's own hard drive, it recorded the whole movie (75 mins on the YUV422 codec) and then proceeded to play it back at approx 30X speed. I never had this problem before and can't see how to prevent it. Is it a compatibility issu with Mountain Lion?
