publishing updates

Phil-Barley wrote on 2/13/2021, 10:00 AM

Hey....I have just published my new site using the newest Xara Web Pro. I checked off the box in web properties/publish/fast publish only, but even if I make a minor update to one of my 14 pages....it publishes ALL pages and images, replacing everything and deleting all previous files. It takes a long time, and I have only corrected a few spelling errors.

I am publishing to my web server I have been using for 20 years on my old site, using Windows 10

What am I doing wrong ? Thanks for any help,

Phil

@Phil-Barley

Hi Phil

. . . . I checked off the box in web properties/publish/fast publish only . . . .

Language localisation is confusing what you mean, 'checked off' infers it now has no tick in the check box, ie 'unchecked'.

Is the option as shown below - 'checked'?

Agreed, technically a check box is either checked or unchecked, as opposed to working through a list where you check off items as they are done.

Back to the issue - the minor changes you made, were any of them to, for example, the menus/navbars or footer/headers or other global components of the site?

Is the template you used a 'Supersite' ie has only 1 HTML page and/or a folder structure such as that shown below

Yes it's a Supersite, and I was thinking that may be the reason, but the changes were only on 2 pages and not linked. At times it just loads quickly, and others it takes longer. Some images are duplicated on other pages, so that may be another reason? www.plansinwood.com

Hey John....I just uploaded the image at the top of the Buy Plans page, and it took a long time, added then deleted tons of jpg and png files. It works fine, but maybe I just have to be more patient...LOL
