I find this program very difficult to work with, I put titles in pictures and they do not stay where i want them. I also try to add music and it does not go where it should. I would like to cancel my purchase and receive a refund.
Do note depending on your location and when you purchased the program, there are limitations on the refund period which started from the day of purchase, not when the program was installed/activated.
I am assuming you have previously used a different video editor or are new to video editing.
In which case see this list of tutorials for Movie Edit Pro, now rebranded to Magix Movie Studio, some are done on older versions of the program, however the principles are the same.
The major difference in Movie Studio is the merging of the Rotation effect into the Size & Position effect and the change in the reference point for the rotation effect which is now in the centre of the object and is movable.
Which program? Video Pro X14? It is the most sophisticated video program in the Magix line, but is basically identical to even the most basic version.
Contrary to what you say, the basics of the program are very simple to work with. However, every program requires some learning. You need to at least learn the basics.
I put titles on pictures but they do not stay where i want them, and I have problems adding music to it.
Undoubtedly this is because you don't know what you're doing. I put titles where I want and they stay there. I have no problem adding music where I want.
Watch these tutorials:
and watch some of the Magix tutorials on the Magix.com site.
There is a manual - download it and read the Quick Start chapter.
There is no Slideshow program, just a Slideshow Maker wizard and it is simple enough to use, but you have to learn what it does. All it does is take photos and videos from the timeline and gives you some simple ways to automate some effects, like transitions, and add music. Everything goes back to the timeline and is completely editable. But you have to know how to edit. The songs with Slideshow Maker are available under the Import tab, My Media, Slideshow music, so you don't even have to use the Slideshow Maker wizard. Just drag and drop the music where you want it.
The point is that it doesn't matter which program the OP has, they all edit exactly the same way. If the OP can't edit in VPX, then he won't be able to edit in Movie Studio or even PhotoStory. They all have the same Slideshow Maker. They all have a timeline with tracks. They all have the same Titler and method to create, modify, move, change them. They all have the same way to put music on a track and move it to where you want.
Turn off the Source monitor and the Project Temp Folder, or simpler, Window, Window Arrangement, Minimum (same thing) and you will have trouble telling the difference between VPX and MS.
I didn't know that PhotoStory was the same as supplied within the video editing programs. They way it is described on the website makes it seem more suitable and more powerful for making slideshows than the video programs.
Also the system requirements are much less demanding and may have been bought due to @Edson-Palmer having a less specified or older machine than needed for either of the video editing packages, hence my question.
There is definitely something wrong if the titling is not staying in place and I feel it prudent to believe another persons experience until it can be figured out what the problem may be.
Yes that was a free and simple photo slide show maker but ceased in 2020. There are lots of other free slideshow makers out there so why did you decide to choose a paid for version?
If you want to try to cancel the purchase, no-one on the forums can help as there are no Magix staff on the forums. You will have to do as @johnebaker above suggested and email magix via the email address he gave.
As I indicated, it doesn't get any easier than this if you actually want to create a video. A slideshow is a video. You have to learn how it works and what to do.
Why don't you just tell us what you actually want to do, what you did - in detail as we can't see your screen - and we can help you from there - but only if you spend some time to read the manual and watch the tutorials for PhotoStory.
You have to learn how to use the program - any program.
Here is the PhotoStory (not the most recent version) user interface in Timeline mode:
Note the similarity. In the Media Pool, there are just icons at the top instead of text for the tabbed pages. They are almost identical to MS and VPX. The only difference is that there is T for Titling by itself instead of being under Effects or fx.
Here are the screens - looks pretty much like VPX and MS, no?
Below is the timeline after using the Slideshow Wizard which has a completely different look from older versions and that in VPX/MS as you can see in the Media Pool. However, it's just a different look. The Title is on track 5, requiring a vertical scroll to see it. The tracks are not numbered (8 max) and there are less editing tools, especially for video and audio. Magix has improved the SlideShow wizard and a few other things since this version.
Here is the SlideShow Wizard in MS2023 - still the old interface:
PhotoStory has some other features not available or not yet available in MS/VPX that assist the user in creating a video.
EDIT: One feature of PhotoStory not in MS/VPX is that the Slideshow can be created by selecting photos and videos in the Media Pool without adding them to the project.
