Problems with Movie Studio 2024

I have a Windows Home 11 computer with an Intel i9 processor and 16GB of RAM. My project directory is on a solid state drive.

I recently upgraded from Movie Studio Platinum 2022 to 2024 and I'm encountering the following problems trying to create a slide show:

  1. I've already added about a hundred photos to my timeline. When I open my video, it opens in Storyboard View, but the icon that's highlighted is Scene Overview. If I click the Scene Overview button, nothing happens, but if I click the Storyboard View button and then click the Scene Overview button, then my timeline actually displays in Scene Overview mode.
  2. I've been trying to add new photos to and existing project's timeline. My mouse is set to Multitrack Ripple.
    I tried adding a photo by highlighting it in the Import window and clicking the down arrow. Nothing happened. I tried it again, and nothing happened. I tried closing the movie, and then exiting Movie Studio. When I reopened Movie Studio and loaded my movie, there are now multiple copies of the photo. When I highlight them (either individually or collectively) and click Edit-Delete, nothing happens.
  3. Dragging and Dropping objects to reposition them on the timeline sometimes works and other times doesn't and the object just disappears from the timeline.

It seems like Movie Studio 2024 isn't quite ready for prime time.

@Ian-Schwartz

Hi

. . . . I've been trying to add new photos to and existing project's timeline. . . there are now multiple copies of the photo . .. .

There would appear to be an issue or change with the mouse Automatic mode whether this is a bug or by design I do not know - I will raise a Support ticket to find out.

Currently, the default Automatic mode for inserting is to put them at the end of the timeline irrespective of the timeline cursor position, this also applies in Storyboard mode.

If you are wanting to insert at a specific point position, in timeline mode position the timeline cursor where you want to insert the image and press the 3 key top row of the keyboard, in Storyboard mode press 3 first, then drag and drop into position.

If you are in timeline mode you can now continue adding in this mode using the Insert arrow on the images or drag and drop from the Media pane, in Storyboard mode drag and drop the image where you want it to be.

To get out of this mode press the 1 key to revert to Automatic again.

These are the different keyboard shortcuts for the Insert mode

I just downloaded the latest patch and I'm glad to see that the import is functioning the way you'd expect it to. Glad to see someone from Magix is listening.

Hi, what is the version number of this version that you updated? (when you say downloaded does it mean that it was updated internally by the program? OR is there any way to download a file that contains a separate update?)

When I opened Movie Studio today I was prompted to update to version 23.0.1.191 (UDP3).
