Problems with detection of VHS device

Nor73 wrote on 9/25/2011, 8:03 AM

Hi...
I bought and installed the Terratec grabby and installed it (windows7 x64)

The VHS is a Panasonic HD 620. I hooked it up with a scart to s-vhs converter, plugged in the three cables (audio r,audio l and video) and the s-vhs cable and set the switch on the scart to "out". I connected the usb to the usb input on my pc.
I installed Magix movies on DVD Terra Tec edition, turned on the VHS and started the program.

First error came from my OS: "The color scheme has been changed to windows 7 basic" message bubble popped up.
Second error: I clicked on "recording" under "please select a function",then clicked "analog video",and a window popped up saying "The current recording format is not compatible with the current record device. Do u want to try to adapt the record device?"
I clicked on "yes". A new message was displayed ""The current recording format is not compatible with the current record device. Do u still want to use this format for decoding?"
I've tried various methods, but nothing works...any help would be highly appreciated:-)

Hi

If I am guessing what you said correctly.

1.  You should only connect the VHS to the  ie scart in the VHS and the red, white and yellow to the matching plugs on the Terratec.  There is no need to use the S_VHS socket and lead.

2.  If Windows has changed to Win 7 basic, then the version of Movies on DVD may not be Windows 7  compatible - you can check here search on the Movies on DVD.

3. The current recording format incompatibility may be due to an NTSC/PAL conflict ie your computer system may think it is US and therefore should be NTSC and you are trying to capture UK PAL.

Thank you for your reply:-)

1. I've tried to connect to the red, white and yellow only, but still no detection and still errors.

2. I should mention that the Terratec grabby with it's software is Vista compatible. Should it not then also be WIN7 compatible?

3. Having the problems already with detection of the VHS device (before trying to import) i cannot confirm this conflict:-/

All problems so far lies in the lack of contact with the VHS device.
