Problem: Audio Recording Left Channel Only

Fryer wrote on 1/2/2021, 10:57 PM

I am using the Video Easy 5 software along with the Terratec Grabster AV350 to copy Hi8 recordings directly from my camcorder to the computer and eventually burn to DVD. My camcorder only records in mono. It outputs the sound over the left channel wire (white cable). I can move this to the right if I want. However, I am only getting sound from one side. This is odd. I would like to have the mono sound output to both channels. So it doesn't sound as though sound is coming from one side of the room when watching back these home recordings on a TV. How do I go about this?

The camcorder is connected via an S-Video cable and an audio cable to the Grabster of which I only connect the white cable as the red cable has no sound.

@Fryer

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

To start. I do not have this program but often if a program does not have a way of panning a left or right signal to the centre of a sound track then the only option is to get the signal to the two inputs.

Normally that involves adding a splitter cable into the chain.

Assuming your connectors at this point are RCA types then something like this could work.

Ray.
