Preview Rendering

currysteph wrote on 12/26/2011, 8:51 AM

Hi I know MEP 17MX and VPX 3 have a new preview rendering function....

I can find how to select what settings I want and where to save the temp previews.... but I cant find anything to show me how to actually select the range on the timeline and then render the preview....

any help appreciated, maybe a little tutorial?

I have VPX3 but Im sure it the same steps for both VPX and MEP

Thanks

Steph

Hi currysteph.  Good to "talk" to you again on these marvellous new MAGIX forums.

I confess I wasn't aware that VPX 3 could "Preview Render", though I know MEP MX can.  Are you sure about VPX?  If so, I've learned something new yet again!

Anyway, your question: in MEP MX you need to select a "range" (the blue beginning of and end of range markers).    Make sure the play cursor is somewher within that range.  If you then choose Edit>Start Preview Rendering (shortcut Ctrl+R), MEP will ask, amongst other options, whether you want to render that Range; simply click "Range" and MEP goes to work.  I think the critical point is to ensure the Play cursor is within the range; otherwise MEP itlself goes "looking for" possible ranges to render.

Hi Jeff

Yea VPX 3 does do this....but with your instructions I was able to figure out exactly how.

You do the same by setting a start and end marker but the menu wording is a little different ...
EDIT>PREVIEW RENDERING RANGE BETWEEN START AND END MARKERS

which is a pretty long menu lable....but none the less...I think what was throwing me was the fact that the play cursor "has to be within the range" for VPX/MEP to know what you're asking...

I guess now the only trick is to remember to clear out all the pre-render clips after you finish a project.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
