Preloading slow, wave display does not match audio /Movie Studio 2023

jeesa2 wrote on 2/13/2024, 11:11 AM

In the beginning everything works. But approx. 10 Minutes into cutting the Video, the preloading time gets longer and longer and the wave form display does not match audio anymore. I have been using previous versions of Movie Studio on the same computer before and never had issues. All my other Programs are working fine. My computer has more than the system requirements. Thank you for your help.

Hi

Assuming you have a newer computer than the Lenovo Z50-70 (20354) - 15.6" Display, Intel i7-4510U, 2.0GHz, 16GB.

We need more information to help diagnose the issue(s) you are having:

The specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required, and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card/integrated GPU drivers up to date?

How much free space is there on the C: drive?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab  would help.

What video format, codec and resolution are you importing/working on - to help with this download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to set up MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Hi John.

Thank you for your answer.

I put the system information in my signature.

Are the graphics card/integrated GPU drivers up to date?

Yes, I updated them but I stil have the same issue.

How much free space is there on the C: drive? 256GB

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab  would help.

Do you mean the Program settings of Magix Studio? If yes, which ones? Do you mean a screenshot of the Device Manager settings in Windows?

Here is the MediaInfo. I made this a .mp4 to analyse it. But the issue happens when I work in the project file matching the audio to the video.

Hi

Thanks for the info, we also need the program ersion number as found under Help, About

. . . . I made this a .mp4 to analyse it . . . .

Can you post an analysis of the original file you are importing please - changing it to mp4 may have re-encoded it, we need to know the original codecs and other data which may relevant to determine if this is causing the issue.

Complete name                            : D:\ONLINE COURSES 2023\2pp with audio\Signet Ring heart.MVP
File size                                : 4.58 MiB

It is the .MVP file I am working with in Magix.

What John was asking for was a MediaInfo analysis of the actual video file that is on your timeline In MEP 2023, not the MVP (Magix Project) file.

Hi

Thanks for the program version

. . . . I made this a .mp4 to analyse it . . . .

Perhaps I was not clear enough,

From the MediaInfo data you posted above:

Complete name                            : C:\Users\jasmi\Desktop\Signet Ring Simple.mp4
Format                                   : MPEG-4
Format profile                           : Base Media
Codec ID                                 : isom (isom/avc1)

Tagged date                              : 2024-02-15 21:19:15 UTC

Suggests this video file is an export from Movie Studio 2023.

The MediaInfo needed is that of the original video file recorded by the camera or phone.

. . . . It is the .MVP file I am working with in Magix. . . . .

This is the project file that contains all the information about what is on the timeline in the program and the editing and effects used. It does not contain any video.

. . . . . the wave form display does not match audio anymore . . . .

Do you mean the audio does not match the lip movements, ie it goes out of synchronisation?

Hi John.

Thank you for your answer.

. . . . . the wave form display does not match audio anymore . . . .Do you mean the audio does not match the lip movements, ie it goes out of synchronisation?

The audio is an extra video that has been recorded using OBS. It is also an .mp4. I only keep the audio itself and turn on the wave display so I know where to cut. The wave display does not match the voice or audio which makes it improssible to cut the audio correctly and match it to the video.

I hope this makes sense.

Hi

Thanks for additional info, however the additional information raises more questions.

. . . . The audio is an extra video that has been recorded using OBS . . . .

  • Was this a commentary recording while playing the original video, and you are trying to edit and lip sync it to the original audio, which is bad?

    OR

Assuming the original video has a commentary, is the second recording a translation to another language? If so, then the waveforms will not match and syncing is to say the least difficult.

  • Assuming different microphones were used, it is quite likely that the waveforms will not match due to different microphone characteristics, this too would make matching and editing difficult. I will tag @CubeAce (Ray) he is an audio expert.

  • Are you zooming in enough to identify similar peaks in the audio waveform

Hi John.

The video itself has no audio.

It is a drawing video where you see only hands. The second video recorded via OBS is the audio that explains the process. I only use the audio from this second video.

Hope this makes sense.

The wave display of the recorded voice does not match. There are empty spaces where the voice can be still heard and visa versa. The wavelength display does not match the voice.

The issue seems to be buffering and/or slow preloading.

Are you zooming in enough to identify similar peaks in the audio waveform. Yes

I have been using Magix for many years and also on this laptop. I never had issues until recently.

Thank you for your help.

Hi

Thanks for the clarification.

The easiest and probably the quickest solution is to re-record the audio directly in Movie Studio, while playing the video clip on the timeline, a processes called 'dubbing' - see video linked to below on audio in MEP/MMS, by @browj2 for how to do this - starts at 8:46 into the video.

Hi.

The one thing I notice about your OBS files is they do not show any frames per second in the audio section. I don't know if that is part of the problem or not, only that my OBS recordings do show a normal expected frame rate. Also why does your OBS file show a QuickTime signature? Here is the MediaInfo from one of my OBS recordings.

It's possible that the settings you have chosen to record in OBS are causing problems. These are some of my OBS settings. They work fine in all the video editors I use.

Another option is to upload one of your files to Google drive for us to test and see if there are problems at our end as well. I personally don't use OBS for this job but a dedicated audio editor. You do realise you could use MMS to record and audio track instead? A file made by the program should not cause these problems.

Hi Ray

. . . . OBS files is they do not show any frames per second in the audio section . . . .

@jeesa2's MediaInfo data does show the fps for the audio - the MediaInfo analysis is after the line 'This is a sample video for the audio file:'

There is, however, a problem with this parameter in that the Audio 'frame rate' has nothing to do with the video frame rate and should only be quoted for MP3 files and its derivatives which encode audio as a series of data blocks which have been attributed the name 'frames'.

The parameter is a calculated from the Sample rate ÷ Samples per data block (frame).

Hi John.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong file. I'm not familiar with working with MKV files either. I also seem to have repeated your advice in your last post.

Are you referring to the line [ Codec ID    : A_AAC-2 ] ? If so I've not seen that before from OBS.

Normally my recordings on the same line would be [ mp4a-40-2 ] I still think it is an OBS setting problem. Would still love to be able to test the problem file.

I'm not sure when it happened but I think a Windows update has at some point over possibly the last few months may have altered some of the audio device settings. On my PC default the mic input was changed and it took me a while to re-engage it so my mic would work again. Possibly because the mic channel can't record at the same bit depth level on my machine and stuck with 16 bits.

Recording to MKV format should give you this codec ID.

The mkv container file format is the default for OBS.

The addition of the A_ prefix and single digit suffix to the AAC codec ID is, AFAICS, the Matroska ID for the mp4a-40-2, with the last digit indicating the Profile used - 1 is Main, 2 is LC.

I have 30+ MKV video loops which VLC and MediaInfo do not play/recognise 😕, yet they import correctly into MMS/VPX.
