Photostory 2014 Deluxe AVCHD playback

rotondim614 wrote on 9/3/2014, 9:32 AM

I have created a slideshow and burned it using AVCHD,  When I play it back in my Blu-Ray player the bottom portion of 'most' photos are blacked out.  Most times the image appears in its entirety and then the bottom portion blacks out, sometimes it actually tries to fill back in.  This is very disturbing and disappointing.

I moved my player to another TV and get the same results. The DVD plays in a similar fashion on a friends system so I assume its the burn process/burner.  Are ther any settings that should be changed to aleviate this?  I have "Anti-Interlace filter" set under Image 'Optimization\TV-Picture'.  Should this be turned off?  I also enabled this setting under Encoding Settings section option when Burning. In fact the type is set to 'Custom fit' under Encoder Settings, should I set it to 'AVCHD 1920 x 1080i NTSC' ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Sounds like you have a disc problem - either the disc is suspect or the BD player is not compatible with thet particular brand of disc.

Wwhat make / type of disc are you using?

Hello John, I am using Memorex DVD-R.  Can you suggest a disc manufacturer that you have used in the past with good results?  Thanks for your help.

Hi

Personally I use the following:

  • DVD-RW        RiDisc or Verbatim

  • DVD+RW       Verbatim

  • DVD-R SL      Ritek, RiDisc or Verbatim - full face printable

  • DVD-R DL     Ritek or RiDisc - full face printable

  • BD-RE           Verbatim

  • BD-R              Verbatim - full face printable

The rewriteable DVD and BD's are used for initial burn and testing - once I have a good disc as I require I then copy to permanent disc.

HTH

John, thanks for the information.  I will invest in Verbatim DVD-R and DVD-RW and see if it makes a difference.  I hope this is the issue as I do lke the Magix Photostory product and hope that I can get beyond this issue.

My assumption based on your information is that you create/test your slideshows using DVD+/- RW and then once created to your satisfaction you burn to DVD+/- R.  You used the term 'copy' but I assume you burn to DVD+/- R from the Magix prduct.

Hi

. . . . You used the term 'copy' but I assume you burn to DVD+/- R from the Magix prduct . . . .

I did actually mean copy.

I use Nero to copy the RW disc to permanent disc - actually I make at least 2 copies - one as a master for future replication where required, plus the immediate number of copies I actually need for playing and giving to friends and family.

I also archive off the folders that contain the DVD or BD files for future burning using Nero and my master disc fails ( they do not last forever) if required.
