patch to v18

Roberto-Goncalves wrote on 4/19/2024, 11:38 AM

Hi,

I needed to uninstall version 18 but I purchased v17 which I have the installation file for. How do I get the v18 installer? (here at magix there is a record of it but it is only available to download v17. Internally in version 17 I can no longer automatically update to version 18) Any solution?

Thanks

@Roberto-Goncalves

From what you write it seems you bought version 17 (which would have come, I think, with 12 months of the Update Service) and subsequently received the version 18 upgrade within that initial 12 months.

You have now had to reinstall version 17 but can no longer upgrade to version 18. Is that correct?

If so, regrettably there may be no solution for you, sorry.

Under the old Magix Update service, a user would receive all updates and upgrades released within 12 months of the original purchase. At the end of that period he/she would normally have been offered the opportunity to renew the Update Service, at further cost. If that user decided to NOT renew but later needed to reinstall the software, only the originally purchased version would be available, along with any updates to that version but not to any later, i.e., "new" version.

Hi

In addition to @emmrecs comment:

Magix no longer retail Xara Photo and Graphics Designer, new version purchases must be made direct with Xara, and, as you can see from the linked to page, there is a discount for Magix users.

Xara also has a forum, Talk Graphics, dedicated to their products.

Hi,

I was using version 18. I went to look for an update. I saw that you separated from Magix. I purchased version 20 for life and at a discount! But before, I had uninstalled version 18. 2 things I did wrong! I was disappointed with version 20 (activation bug that the Engineers there were unable to resolve in 2024! Very strange!). I asked for a refund and now I'm being held hostage to reinstalling v18. But nothing in life is random! It's time to look for another competitor/strand! This incident caught my attention since I continue to use Magix MMS (which also continues to use the same installer system). If they fail tomorrow and there is an eventual discontinuity, the customer will be held hostage by those versions where they installed and did not receive the version-specific installer. MMS and VPX have this problem. Contrary to this situation, for example in Vegas the customer receives the installer of the specific version! I think it's time to think about this too!

Thanks!

@Roberto-Goncalves

As @johnebaker pointed out to you, Magix no longer sells this product.

You need to ask Xara about the specifics of your situation since there is nothing that anyone who posts here, nor even Magix staff, can do to help you, sorry.

Hi,

This week they managed to fix the activation of the v20 lifetime version. I was able to solve this problem and migrate to this version because I had v17 and v18 projects. Fortunately!
