PACKAGE CONTINUALLY CRASHES

Phil-Calland wrote on 7/17/2022, 9:40 AM

VIDEO PRO X14 was working great
Started a new video project and was able to import audio, a video file and start editing & FX'ing
Then if I imported another item, the package would just crash
I then copied the whole folder onto the desktop to shorten the path....no change
I changed name - ....no change
I uninstalled the package twice including deleting App Data folders ....no change
I went back to my previous successful video project, added a new item - same crashing
Help!!!
I have a customer deadline to meet and cannot deliver at this moment as the package keeps crashing
There is no error message or number, it just crashes
Thanks

@Phil-Calland

Hi,

Reinstalling almost never solves problems and can make the situation worse.

Try starting a new project and importing the file that causes the crash. Does it still crash?

Sounds to me like you have a file that the program doesn't like. Try to isolate it.

Thanks John - didnt know that!
It is everything I import in that crashes on the new project, then when I go back to my last working project, same things happened
Had to move onto another editor to meet my deadline

@Phil-Calland

Strange, but I am presently struggling with a project that won't open and even Windows Explorer freezes when I view the folder with the source documents or try to drag and drop a suspect file onto the timeline.

I tried in MEP2022 and it seems that one file is definitely corrupt.

It may be that if there is one bad file in the folder, VPX is trying to read it just to create an icon and the whole thing crashes. Or, maybe it's something else.

This could be your case.

Did you try importing files from a different folder into a new project?

@Phil-Calland

Hi

Check that your Antivirus program Folder/Ransomware Protection feature was not blocking access to the folder where the project was.

. . . . I then copied the whole folder onto the desktop to shorten the path . . . .

This is not a good location to store any files or folders, in the (rare) event that Windows encounters an issue or has an update that resets the Desktop you will lose any files and folders located there. The Documents folder, which is a protected folder, is the correct place. Alternatively on a second drive

If you have further issues please provide the following information:

Computer specification, Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

The graphics card drivers, for all GPU's, version number(s)?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab .

A MediaInfo analysis of a source video clip if you are importing video clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

The amount of free space on the hard drive(s).

Any error dialog that popped up when the crash occurred, please quote the full message?
