Opening GoPro MP4-file result in black playback screen

Tinker2022 wrote on 5/23/2022, 8:59 AM

I can see the MP4 movie from GoPro running without problem on my Windowsbox, but opening it in Magix Video Easy does not enable viewing. It is visible at the bottom together with a photo, photo shows correct, but the movie blocks and also freeze the program.

Tried different conversions of file MP4 and MPEG. But only "black" screen. Any suggestions?

Version 7.0.1.145.

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

  2. Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

  3. A screen shot of the Program settings, Playback tab would help.

  4. A Mediainfo analysis of one of the GoPro clips would help - download and install MediaInfo from here and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

Hi

Thanks for coming back .. here is some of the response:

See the Profile Signature for hardware configuration.

All drivers are up to date.

Not sure what to show from Program Settings. Just refer to the graphic card. Playback Tab just showing the 15 seconds file. As mentioned earlier I can load photos and see them.

Hi.

You appear not to have updated your Windows build for some time and it needs to be updated.

The program may still not work with your nvidia card as official support for updated drivers ended in 2021 but there have been security patches for the drivers that may help here.

I can see no problem with the video file so it should be either a windows update problem or a driver problem as far as I can tell but I'm not familiar with Video Easy.

Ray.

Hi

. . . . Version 7.0.1.145. . . . .

What is the full name of the program?

. . . . Not sure what to show from Program Settings. Just refer to the graphic card. . . . .

This setting is the one we are looking for:

If it is set to the K2000 graphics card, change it to Compatibility mode.

If this works and the program is Video Easy 7 HD then playback may be jerky with the GoPro video and exporting may be slow due to the lack of an Intel integrated GPU (graphics chip), the Nvidia Quadro K2000 cannot be used for hardware acceleration.
