Old Sound Pools

DUBISAK wrote on 2/19/2011, 5:04 PM

Hi,

I was just wondering does anyone know where it would be possible to purchase the first few Sould pools released by magix. There is a particular 1 I am looking for, that I must have bought it 8 - 10 years ago. I beleive it had a red / wine colored cover, but also had grey  sections for logo and product description.

I have just finished renovating part of my house so PC and its software were put into storage, and now taken all back i cant find this CD.

The samples are no longer on my drive either, as had an issue with my PC prior going into storage and was planning on reconnecting path directories from my songs to the samples today by using the CD but was nowhere to be found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You can buy the discs here...

http://www.magix.com/us/soundpools-media-packages/

Shipping is quite fast.

Or, you can purchase as downloads here...

http://www.catooh.com/us/sys/id/Katalog/area/8563/

I don't think any of them go back 8 to 10 years though.  Soundpool 9 was probably out around 2004.

Thanks for you answer Procyon. Unfortunetly I have checked the links provided and you are right they dont go back futher than soundpool 9.

I think it is soundpool 3 I am looking for. It may not be 3, but is definely older than 9. Just cant remeber the number of it, but if I seen the front of cd cover I would know it.

If anyone else can help me it would be great.

Thanks Nihon,

It is a different cover than the one I have, or should I say had.

The 1 I had was just 1 cd, the product on the link provided is for 5 cds.

Would you think that this is a collection of the first few soundpools released? If was I would assume that my special cd must be included in it.

Do you know when they moved over from Cd to DVD format?

Hi,

Welcome,

It seems there are three different types of soundpool in the market.

Single CD Rom(may be the oldest)

Soundpool collection on CD Rom (more than one CD) what you have seen on website.

Finally DVD collection started from 9,10,11,12,(there isn't number 13)14,15,16(from 9-16 these are Royalty Free) and 17(No.17 for private use, in case of commercial use extra license is needed)

I checked my collection and scanned CD Rom info for you. Usually these are single cd rom released items I know.

Can you see cd you are looking for?

Or this one check link belwo:

http://www.amazon.de/Magix-Music-Maker-CD-ROMs-CD-ROM/dp/3930864355/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1298201685&sr=8-10

I think these single soundpool cd started around 1990's can not say which year.

After searching I found on amazon.com Magix SoundPool Collection 2 is also available but got no image. It means there should be No.1 too but hard to find.

http://www.amazon.com/Magix-SoundPool-Collection-OLD-VERSION/dp/B00004T728

"Would you think that this is a collection of the first few soundpools released? If was I would assume that my special cd must be included in it."

I do not think so as I just found there is collection 2 also avilable it means there is No.1 too.

"Do you know when they moved over from Cd to DVD format?"

It is a very difficult question even on CD rom or DVD Magix did not mention but if

Soundpool DVD 17 =2011,

Soundpool DVD 16 =2010,

Soundpool DVD 15 =2009,

Soundpool DVD 14 =2008,

Soundpool DVD 12 =2007,

Soundpool DVD 11 =2006,

Soundpool DVD 10 =2005,

Soundpool DVD 09 =2004

Befoere above DVD released  I found there are MAGIX SOUNDPOOL COLLECTION CD-ROM 2,3,5 and 6(No.3 you have seen on amazon.

Before MAGIX SOUNDPOOL COLLECTION CD-ROM released you have seen scanned images above.

I hope now you can understand.

PS* sorry for any typo

Thank you

nihon94

It is very difficult to trace exact date

I couldn't find and photo for a Soundpool 1.  Perhaps they only had the individual CD's for the first release and went to "collections" after that.  If someone has one of these "mini" soundpools CD's, they could look to see if it has a date on it,

I couldn't find a photo for Soundpool Collection 7 either.  This would be from about the time period he is asking about, but it would be multiple CD's.

Here is the cover for Soundpool Collection 2...

Thank all for the help. It must be the 1st soundpool I am looking for, as it looks similar to 2 posted below. I have searched amazon and ebay Ireland, Uk, Germany and USA but to no avail. Can you think of any other websites that might sell?

Procyon wrote on 2/20/2011, 11:18 AM

Well...if it looks similar to SP-2,and has some wine-red color, it might be Spondpool 3...

If so, there is one available here...

Hi,

It will be much better if you could recall any particular information about that CD Rom, that will be helpful in searching. Such as, style, Techno, Hard, Hiphop etc. From where did you buy that?

Otherwise it will be difficult to trace.

Thank you

It was a hip hop style cd.

Consisted of about 6 different elements, some of these noted below

Rap

Drum

Bass

Choir

I believe was orgainised that each similar sample that was a continuation of the last would be grrouped  togther like "ChoirAA, ChoirAB. Choir AC" then the next group samples would be "ChoirBA Choir BB, Choir BC"

The vocals had lyrics like the below

"Airwaves a roam like a cellular phone" "I hate snakes like indiana jones" "My rhymes are hot like coffee, dipping tracks like scones"

"tell me what you need you know I got it, im living large im in charge there is not doubt about it"

This sounding familiar to any one?

Bought it in PC World. Not sure if they a world wide chain or just UK and Ireland. Boutght it about 8 o 10 years ago.

Hi Nihon94

I see on your profile you live in Japan, maybe you could help with this.

I googled some the lyrics I put into below post, and up came  lyrics to a song called earthquake by an artist(s) KAZE O2SE. they have the exact same rap sampled with fatser tempo as what i got from cd I am looking for. They have it posted on you tube. they however would appear to be Japanese and mis heard some of the lyrics on rap and so the lyrics they have writen on their video do not always meet what being said.

Anyway please see below 2 links, one to you tube, the second to google search i did on band name. the search threw up mostly what I assume are japanese websites, which i can not read. Would it be possible for you to have a look to see if they give any info as to the cd they sampled from?

Many thanks

Hi Nihon94,

Yes I would imagine it is almost impossible to understand all lyrics through listening alone, especially when the tempo is as fast as on this one.  your Engllish is excellent.

Pity there is no additional info on website, I have left a comment on You tube, but dont even knowf the poster of the song is the artist.

Last chance saloon. if cant get it from You tube, I ma just give up.

Just to note the format or how samples organised is slightly different that what I originaly advised. they ae organised as follows. Each similar sample that was a continuation of the last would be grrouped togther like "Choir01A, Choir01B, Choir01C" the next rouping would be "Choir02A Choir02B Choir02C" and so on.

Thank you all for your help on this.

It would appear the CD I am looking for is Hip Hop Vol 2, which was part of sound pool collection 4.

Anyone know of anyone that would have a spar eto sell me?

Or has anyone ever down loaded from catooh website, if you can could you help with the below?

When I click on the below link for example

http://www.catooh.com/us/sys/id/Katalog/area/mediaDetails/item_id/50360/

It brings me to area where I can hear audio and enter to shopping cart.

If I add to the shopping cart is it just the 1 piece of audio in the preview that I can hear that I am buying, or will there be more samples downloaded than what I get a preview of?

The preview of sample has exactlly the lyrics I am looking for however, there is a drum loop mixed with it. Is this just for presentation of sample or when I down load are rap samples already mixed with other samples.

The CD I had was just each sample on its own

Procyon wrote on 2/24/2011, 8:35 AM

Congratulations!  It's nice to know you can still get the older soundpools.

Yes, I have downloaded samples from CATOOH.

The tracks you are listening to are DEMOS created to showcase the available samples in context.  It would not be as interesting if they simply played the individual samples one after the other.

After purchasing the 'Urban' group, you will in fact receive a collection of individual samples just like any soundpool.
