Hello!
On the magix.com page, the main feature description is that Video Pro X supports the OFX plugins directly from Mediapool. I installed the OFX Filmconvert plugin and it does not work. How do I understand this message?

It looks like Magix is cheating customers by saying that OpenFX Plugins can be added as video effects directly from Mediapool.

The Filmconvert plug-in is compatible with the DaVinci program, and it should also be VPX compliant

Can you access it through the Plugins Manager in Extra Effects>Plug-ins>advanced search?

Hi,

I don't think it works the way that you think. Look at the OFX Plugin page in:

https://www.filmconvert.com/help/ofx-plugin-resolve-scratch-vegas

Magix VPX is not on the list of supported platforms. Yes, VPX can handle OFX plugins, but the OFX plugin has to be compatible with it. I don't know what this entails, but the web site definitely does not have an OFX plugin for VPX. Did you not check this out first? I would think that if the plugin were compatible with all OFX hosts, then there would be no list of compatible hosts.

Neat Video has an OFX plugin specifically for Magix programs, and other certain other programs. New Blue Video Essentials 3 and 4 (they don't actually work, just give a black screen) and HitFilm Toolkit pack have OFX plugins that work with Magix programs.

One size does not fit all, despite the definition of OFX, "It allows plug-ins written to the standard to work on any application that supports the standard." I think that the OFX has to have something done to it to make it work with specific host applications.

So, if you want this to work with Magix programs, you had best talk to filmconvert.

Hi browj2
Before I installed the plugin I read what they wrote about OFX from Filmconvert but it seemed to me that there is something OPEN it will work but I did not. And you described it perfectly. Your answer should be quoted for all those they have, have and will have. The problem with this plugin. And in the margins is that Magix should make every effort to get along with the plug-in makers to make what they wrote on their site makes sense.
Greetings Tomek

Pozdrawiam Tomek

Hi

. . . . Magix should make every effort to get along with the plug-in makers . . . .

I think the opposite - plug-in makers should ensure that their products conform strictly to the standard for the format they are producing.

There is a similar issue with VST's in that not all are the same or compatable, even though they are supposed to follow the same standard.

The error message you are getting would indicate that it this is an issue of compatablility.

Hey
I'm not a programmer and I do not know how this is happening. Maybe you're right because the way you sell the plug-in for a program is charging a fee. Maybe it is that the possibility of co-operating one program with the other are charged or paid, and here is the whole problem.
Greetings Tomek

Pozdrawiam Tomek

I recalled that HitFilm Ignite Express was OFX. I looked on the site and it seems to be, but there again, HitFilm has a list of programs that Ignite Express works with, and MEP and VPX are not on the list.

It would be nice to know how this OFX is made to work with specific programs and not all OFX compatible programs, not details, just a layman's explanation.
