Object automation learn?

Hi folks,

Imagine i have a plugin on an object and i want to automate it by dragging a knob. Is that possible?

I know how you can set up object automation by targeting a parameter in the object editor, but it's more intuitive to just go into some sort of "learn" mode, tweak the knob and the automation is created for you.

Any ideas? This is standard workflow in other DAWs (for track automation).

Thanks!

@Daz_Harris Plugins should have an hardware controller easy learn option in the main menu. Enable that, move a control and then move a fader/knob on your MIDI controller. This will bind the controller to the plugin. Alternatively, hold CTRL and ALT and left click on a control. This will automatically create an automation lane for this control where you can draw the automation curve.

If you hold CTRL and ALT and move a control during playback or recording, the movement will be recorded to the automation lane.

Thanks for the info.

I tried it, and it works for some plugins, but only on track effects.

My question was about object FX. Do you know if the method you described should also work with object FX?

And if not, is there any one way?

@Daz_Harris Technically, you can copy and paste track automation curves to object automation curves. Not sure how helpful this is, because you still need to do everything on the track first.

The manual also states that automation cannot be recorded during playback on objects. This works only for tracks.
