Hi,

If this is some MP4 file from a compact digital photo cam, it's more likely to have AAC audio on it, not Dolby Digital. (Maybe you can upload a sample here, se we can check.) This should generally import fine with an activated MPEG-4 codec. However, there might be some codec problem, e.g. another codec obstructing the successful AAC audio import. Try installing the free, universal MPEG-4 codec ffdshow on your system and see whether that helps:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow

This might get your around the problem. Delete the temp files and try to reimport your MP4 files after the ffdshow installation.

I hope this helps.

Hmm, seems to be a pretty tricky codec issue then. ffdshow basically is a codec that can fill in for other codecs. It managed to resolve some issues of this ilk. Do you have a second machine you should try this one? You might want to contact Magix technical support about this. Possibly they can go a little deeper into the analysis of this issue and provide more extensive help.

I am also having the problem. I have imported a mpeg file from my HDV camera, and the audio does no play. Video plays fine.

I'm using Windows 7 with sharkey's Windows 7 Codec pack (similar to the Vista codec pack). The video plays fine in Premiere Pro, and I can play any other h.264 file on my system with no problem.

I am having exactly the same issue with MEP 16 Plus which I have been trying out.

I work with .mov files which play absolutely fine audio/video using Arcsoft Mediaimpression software that came with the Kodak HD camera. When using MEP16 sound is gone. I have also imported other format files and there is no sound.
I have been emailing tech support now for a week. I have emailed them a test file which they say plays fine with sound.
Today at their recomendation we removed and installed the latest QT player but this made no difference.
Reading online I note that their is a facility to get codecs from Magix????? I assume this is something that can only be arranged once I purchase the software????

The fact that I can play files in anything other than MEP 16 must mean that I have the correct codec installed and working.

I so want the software but will not buy if I cannot get to work.....

My system is using Vista Business (latest sp)
