The selected clip after applying a newblue effect is not displayed correctly (as it should be) in the program monitor. To display it, the user has to maximize the monitor? Or is there a setting in VPX that corrects this?
It's possible you are just suffering from the moire effect due to differences between footage resolution, your screen's resolution and the size of the image on screen, although your example does seem extreme.
There are a lot of things wrong! Look at this other effect uploaded today, in the effects boxes (Bad smog, Citrus...) it displays black images!
because it has been repeated with other videos as well. It should show the applied effects! So much confusion! I'm going to open tickets again, for Magix and NewBlue after the soap operas I'll post the result.
@Roberto-Goncalves Hi, I think the thumbnails in the fx window are showing the first frame of he clip, trim off that first frame to see if it updates the thumbnails.
I can't check this because my Colorize loads differently..? Yours shows how it used to load with the separate window,, ?
I can reproduce this using VPX, it is a bug, please put in a bug report and link to this topic, I will do the same.
The issue appears to be caused by a mismatch in resolution of the preview and the preview monitor size.
As a workaround, either:
Make a small adjustment to the Preview monitor size - see video below, note I have turned off the Source monitor to give more space for the preview monitor
Set a range and, use the preview render option ( CTRL + R )
I can't reproduce this bug with any NB effect. I tried the same colorize effect and although my video below shows the lightning symbol active I reran the test again without and the vram use increased slightly. Personally I think this is a hardware problem as the effects require a lot of vram to run smoothly.
This is the New Blue requirements for HD content.
If you are editing 4K that would need more.
This is what happened with me trying.
It's not effecting exports so sometimes the timeline is not that smooth when asking the program to do a lot in real time but that is where more powerful GPUs come in handy. An autosave made my mouse stick to a module for a few seconds before I reached for the Esc button.
After more testing the issue occurs when the preview monitor resolution is not a 'standard' size as found under the Preview moniotor resolutions settings, right click preview monitor to access the menu, shown below.
Setting an appropriate resolution for the Aspect Ratio (AR) from the options above does not cause the issue to be displayed.
If you use the option Other resolution to manual set the preview monitor to a none standard size then the values for width and height should maintain a standard AR. eg 600 x 340 is not a valid AR and will be adjusted to 600 x 338.
This topic has forked into this topic and is splitting responses, can we keep this topic as the main topic with respect to the NewBlue effects issues please.
. . . . . All the NBFX TotalFX360 have "6" . . . .
Roberto, Ray and I, are using the Magix versions of, NB Elements, Essentials, Filters and Stylizers. whuich may have some limitations compared to the full package.
Not all effects are the 'old style interface', eg Image mapper, Flying PiP, Magnifying glass and several others.
I have the same Total FX package but the individual packages within that may not be the current offerings.
I did update and all packages had changes except those marked as up to date of which I assume some were current within the Total effects package and other were not. Either way, after testing a sample from each package I find no real differences regarding operation and old projects using some of them are opening without any problems. I note not all of the effects get the same update numbers.
I have never seen any of my NB effects display as the ones from @Roberto-Goncalves
I do not have Total FX package on my computer so for VPX16 and MMS2024 (I did not upgrade to 2025) the NB effects are the "old version" rather than Gid's "new version". So obviously Total FX overrides the effects in the specific Magix bundle;
In terms of the bugs discovered in this post, I can replicate the bug for Active Camera in both VPX16 and MMS2024 but not the black images for Colorize. Mine are fine.
For VPX, my personal preference is the Old version of Newblue FX for the simple reason that the effects open in a new window. In VPX, the default view provides too little screen real estate for effects (on my laptop screen) so I had to create a new window arrangement just for Effects to provide more room to see all the effect controls. This is not necessary with the old version of NewBlue.
As a side note, I also have Vegas Pro 22 suite, and it did not come with any NB effects, but it has them listed. Obviously, it leverages off the NB effects I installed for VPX16, Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio (my previous two editors). In this case, the effects are the "new version" but open in a separate window which I prefer.
Incidentally not all NB effects that were installed by other editors work in Vegas. They work, but I get the NB watermark over the video. Those lucky enough to have purchased the Total FX package probably do not have this issue.
Try creating a 30 fps project, uploading a 25 fps clip... Finally, test by changing the frame rate and resolution.
When zooming in on the monitor/project, most tests fail to color! Evaluate why some videos don't work and others do.
In my tests, I concluded that there is a bug, because you won't always get what you expect, which makes the user feel insecure.
I'm still in contact with NewBlue support with the issue still open. They sent me a plugin to test (filter 5 refocus final trial version 216) but I still have the same problem. And so they're still evaluating it!
Which NB effect are you referring to? I indicated that I was able to replicate your bug using the Active Cameraeffect.
I have been unable to reproduce the black boxes in the Colorize effect. Maybe you can supply a short 5 sec. clip I can test at my end with the settings for your project.
