Thanks for the heads-up on this! I've also used Topaz VideoAI (considerably more expensive, and an annual cost) so this looks like a real bargain. Will be testing it out later today!

It seems it does a lot more than I posted. It's a stand-alone rather than a plugin but really I don't mind that for the purposes I have in mind. We have till the end of January to get the discount.

Also for those that missed out on the vocal / instrument splitter earlier there is an online free / contribute version similar to that program here.

Hi Ray,

Indeed it does! I've just run a quick test on a short section of footage that I had previously run through Topaz Video AI (to upscale SD footage to Full HD) and although Topaz does convert 720x576 to 1980x1020 (with added bars) this app literally upscales by a factor of 3, so my footage is now 2160x1728 and the quality is pretty outstanding!

Not sure why AI processing is universally despised over on VideoHelp (perhaps because "human input" decisions are reduced in quantity?) but I'll admit I've bought it!

I personally haven't had time to try this out so good news. I've been trying to reconfigure my Bios after an upgrade but running into problems. At least after a couple of times when the computer has refused to reboot at all I have lost my fear of making my computer die through making a mistake or being able to correct a setting.

My thoughts are these things are still in their infancy and with training can only get better. This program does so much it would replace quite a few plugins. The fact they are offering a true lifetime upgrade is unusual in this day and age.

That 3840 version on it's home page is plastic fantastic. I watch SD videos on my UHD TV and don't get jagged edges like they show. Still images when zoomed-in in Photoshop, yes, but not on my TV.

The results didn't convince me in any way.
These were SD/DV material 720 X 576 16/9 and 640 X 360 16/9

I scaled with X2 and X3.

When I uninstalled the program, they wanted to offer me a lifetime license for €30.

But they can't convince me with this quality, which is too poor for me.

The computing power required is also very high.
With X2 my computer managed 7 FPS and with X3 only 5 FPS

Hi Marc.

I am in the process of doing several different processes now. I agree that so far the results are not as good as the website suggests but I am trying different aspects. Wasn't impressed with the video stabilisation but to be fare the clip I gave it didn't do any better with the MEP versions. My problem seems to be finding clips of poor enough quality to work with.

I have downloaded both files. I am currently trying about six of my own files so may get to yours tomorrow. Four minutes is taking about an hour and a half. With your files I think it's the dynamic range that may be challenging.

I think it perhaps best to only do one type of processing at a time. So De-noise first then perhaps a sharpen followed by an enlargement.

Will wait and see.

IMO Sharpening is the last thing you should do, also applies to still image editing, I would change the order slightly to Denoise, Enlarge, Sharpen otherwise you are going to be enlarging the sharpening 'halos'.

Normally I would add sharpening last if it was a layer as in Photoshop and not a re-encode after the blocks of colour are re-encoded and smoothed out, or noise issues seem to reappear.

Either way I've not gotten that far yet. I have been disappointed with the results so far. Over six hours for a four minute clip to only de-noise with the 3060 running at a constant 67 to 70 ℃ and 80% usage.

Right click the image and open in a new tab to see full sized. You tell me which is which. OK, there is a slight improvement. I need a worse quality video.

I can get better viewing results by just going into the nvidia control panel and adjusting the video image settings.

OOH! I have just opened the nvidia control panel at that page and got a new control.

Has anyone tried this?

[Edit] Seems to work well but may muck up my assessments of quality while editing. Great for general video playback though.

Well as you have given me the answer and I can see a 'small' difference - I think Neat Video would do a far better job of noise reduction as you have some good consistent areas to analyse.

Did you add some sharpening? The right image is showing more halos.

The left image is played from the original file. The right image I only asked the program to de-noise. To me it looks slightly less sharp than the left image. Compare eyes and shirt buttons. Probably not frame accurate either.

I will attempt at some point to do a more accurate results test from all the clips and effects I have tried out. It may take a while.

To be honest, so far I have found combinations of effects within MEP that do a better perceived job and quicker. At least to my eye more pleasing but as we all know sharing video or still images on the net or the results on screens from different systems is a bag of frogs. 🤣
