my video keeps restarting and wont play from the marker

every time i hit play it restarts i want it to play from the marker

I always use Up-Arrow and Down-Arrow when I want to start and stop from marker.

In newer versions there is a program setting, [Y] key shortcut, under the 'Playback' tab, to have the start cursor move to a new position when you use the space bar to start and stop. This may help.
