My entire project vanished from trial version of Movie Studio 16.0

Yesterday I downloaded Movie Studio 16.0 and activated it as the trial version. That gives me 30 days to try it. I spent 11 hours creating most of a music video and saved constantly throughout the day. I also saved it before closing it for th evening. Today I opened my project and it's COMPLETELY BLANK. There's no media and nothing on the timelines. I'm using Windows 10, have 29 days left on the trial, and I did not move my files. All my source files are still there! What's going on? Is all my work gone forever?

Very strange. Presumably you are using Vegas MS16 and suggest you post on the dedicated Vegas forum here.

I was fortunately able to solve this issue. I don't know why it happened because the software worked so smoothly with no errors or crashes, and I had a clean shutdown, but I found a VF file with a .BAK extension. I noticed it was 3 times the size as the main project file, so I renamed it to MyProject.VF and opened it from inside the program. This opened my project with all my media and edits intact. There must have been some type of silent crash and it created a backup file without prompting me. I'm glad they have that functionality in place.

Everytime you save in VMS it renames your previous save as a bak file.
