Music Studio 2013 stops seeing soundcard 20-30 minutes after launch...

Hi,

I am a Music Studio 2013 user under 3.2Gh Pentium 4 pc 4G ram XP with a Lexicon Omega soundcard connected via USB with ASIO drivers up to date.

About 20 - 30 minutes after launching MS, which time may include successfully recording via the soundcard inputs, MS stops seeing any signal inputs from the soundcard. This has never happened in mid take, only between takes or after a short period of inactivity. A simple close and restart of MS solves the problem, but is more than a bit inconvenient, and irritating.

The same thing happened with my previous version of MS16.

Does anyone have experience of the same issue, and if so, have you resolved it?

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

Dave

Hi

Sounds like the computer is turning off the UB ports after a short period.

Referring to the image below.

   -   Using Windows Explorer right click Computer and select Manage,

   -   In the open window that opens select Device Manager (1).

   -   Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers devices section (2)

   -   For each of the USB devices, right click and select Properties,

   -   On the Power Management tab uncheck the option shown (3)

Do this for all USB hubs.ports that have the Poer Management tab.

This should stop the device disappearing - note if this is done on a laptop it will shorten the battery life by a small amount.

Thanks johnebaker for the tip on USB ports being powered off to save power. I had high hopes for this, as it seemed to me it took longer for MS2013 to lose the Omega souncard, but lose it it did. Closing and restarting the VIP did nothing. Closing and restarting MS fixed it as usual.

Any more ideas anyone? Indeed, am I alone or are others seeing the same - either with a Lexicon Omega or any other soundcard?

Thanks in advance

Dave
