Music Maker 17 doesn't recognise USB device

Hi

I have tried to connect my Blue Icicle XLR to USB Microphone adapter to MM17 but it MM17 doesn't recognise it, even though the software recognises my USB my M Audio keyboard. I have gone into Audio Devices in the Windows XP Control Panel and set the recording device to Blue Icicle, but the software still doesn't recognise it. The Blue Microphones website says the Icicle doesn't need a driver....help!

Thanks in advance

What have you got set for input device within the program. In program settings, (shortcut Ctrl+ Y) what have you got set as an input device? One problem with USB mikes is you lose the ability to monitor, unless you get skype up and running at the same time so you can hear something. Cheers M o' L.

Hi M o' L

Thanks for your prompt reply. When the Icicle is connected, the Input Device box is 'greyed out' or blank. When I connect the M Audio keyboard it says 'USB Device'.

I'm going to borrow a Tascam USB interface and see if that makes any difference. If not, I could always try the 'Baseball Bat to the laptop' option!!

Once again, thank you

Always worth a try, but if you get 'greyed out' when you connect a USB device under XP, are you sure you don't need a driver? If XP doesn't recognise it outside of the program, then the program can do precious little with it, or does it recognise it ok? Cheers, M o' L.
