Moving to a new computer

Wolfie wrote on 7/11/2020, 9:04 PM

I have purchase a new computer and time to retire the 2007 machine. I have the disk and loaded in xara pro. I do not see any of my backup files. What can I do to load in all backup file from the old machine. I guess this will teach me to upload to my web projects the _xara_grapic_file (my name, to my hosting server web site. )

Wolfie

@Wolfie

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . . I do not see any of my backup files . . . .

Did you copy them and any media files used to the new computer?

Do you see them on the new computer in Windows File Explorer and is Web Designer Pro projects folder paths set to the correct location?

Thank you. Did I copy them? I guess I did not. I am not sure what files to copy.

@Wolfie

Hi

You need to copy the project files - and any images, videos and other documents you have added to the web site eg PDF files.

Also copy all the backups in the folder:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Xara\ProgramName\xx\Backups

to the same folder on the new computer.

Note this is a hidden folder you need to set Windows File Explorer to show Hidden items as shown below

Thank you again. I used wordpress to build sites.

I will go to the old computer now that I know the path and copy files.

Setting Explorer to show hidden folder another task/issue but that you. Now I know.

Much appreciated.

Thank you once again.

graphic / photos resizing, adding text https://SValenciaInternational.com. I run an insurance brokerage and got tired of hiring web designers. Now web design is like a hobby. Really good at SEO.. Only do for my companies. Thanks for asking.

@Wolfie

Hi

Tried to look at your website and got a security warning - the site certificate is not valid for that domain name - the certificate is only valid for the following names: insuremyhogs.com, www.insuremyhogs.com.

Looks like the SSL certificate needs updating if the others are yours.

Weird? Not sure why that is happening but I will check with SSL issuer and Hosting Provider. I have been working with it for day and just renewed it a couple of days ago. I have not renewed the other sites. Thank you for letting me know.

Thank you once again. I have not heard back from the server team but, I did a restart as I was under some kind of bot attack. Please let me know if you experience the same issue if you chose to look once again. Regards,
